A1 and A2 Tests
The Danish Immigration Service is the only Danish authority that can advise family reunification immigrants about which Danish tests they must take to fulfill the Danish language requirement for their residence permit.
Information about the Danish Test Requirements for Family Reunification
The Danish language test requirement for the family reunification immigrant requires that you must generally pass a Danish test at the A1-level (danskprøve på A1-niveau) and A2-level (danskprøve på A2-niveau) if you want to retain your Danish residence permit. The deadline to pass the Danish A1-level test is 6 months, and the deadline to pass the Danish A2-level test is 9 months.
The deadlines are calculated either from the date the non-resident receives their residence permit or from the date the non-resident registers their address in Denmark’s Central Registration System (folkeregistret.)
The Danish test at the A1-level and the Danish test at the A2-level are two different language tests that can only be taken at VSKdansk in Glostrup or at Sprogcenter Vejle in Vejle.
Certain other tests can replace the Danish A1- and A2-level tests. The Danish Immigration Service can provide guidance on which tests can replace the A1- and A2-level Danish tests. Module tests for the Danish Education program courses for newly arrived adult foreigners, etc. cannot replace the Danish A1- and A2-level tests.
