Education

At Lolland Language School, we offer both day and evening classes at our sites in Maribo and Nakskov. There is also the option of distance learning that takes place online with your teacher and classmates on Microsoft Teams .

Day classes typically include 14 lessons offered over three days: one day from 8.30-14.00, one day from 8.30-12.00, and one afternoon from 12.30-15.45. Some courses offer teaching via distance learning on one of the three days. Read more about 'Distance learning' further down.

Evening classes typically have six lessons per week, divided between two evenings, with teaching from 17.00-19.15. This includes a short break.

Distance learning is offered as part of selected daytime classes, where one of the three weekly sessions takes place online. In addition, we offer dedicated distance learning classes for learners who prefer fully remote instruction. These classes are held once a week from 17:00 to 19:30 and are available at both beginner and advanced levels.

All distance learning takes place via Teams, and a teacher is always present live during the lesson.

App-writer training/dyslexia education is offered to our students with dyslexia

We collaborate with VUC (Voksenuddannelsescenter), who screens students we suspect may have dyslexia. If we believe you may need to be (or could benefit from being) screened for dyslexia, you will be invited to a screening at VUC.

If the screening results indicate that you are dyslexic, you will be offered a course with VUC to provide language instruction with their resources. The specially designed course that you will be allowed to take part in will be added to your normal course schedule, so that you do not exceed the maximum of 14 lessons.

At Lolland Language School we also have an App-writer course, primarily focused on teaching you how to use the App-writer program. App-writer is a computer program and technology tool that provides reading and writing support for our dyslexic students to use during module tests or Danish exams, if you wish.

FAQ - Education

If your teacher is sick and unable to teach a class session, the session will be cancelled. If your teacher is ill for more than one day, we will find a substitute teacher.

You will be notified by SMS from Lolland Language School about cancelled classes. It is therefore important to provide Lolland Language School with your Danish phone number. It is also your responsibility to notify the school’s administration if you get a new phone number.

If you are registered for language courses through SVU and your class is cancelled, you should use the time to study your Danish at home.

For this purpose, you will be provided with an SVU self-study folder.

Depending on the Danish Education you are enrolled in, it may be helpful to use a dictionary.

At Lolland Language School, we have dictionaries that students may borrow in class, when taking a module test, or when sitting for a Danish Exam. We have many dictionaries in various languages, but unfortunately, not in all languages. If you want a dictionary in a language we do not have in our collection, you may purchase one. However, we encourage you to speak with your teacher about what you need to be aware of before buying a dictionary. If you buy a dictionary yourself, you are welcome to bring it to a module test or a Danish exam, as long as it complies with the Ministry's guidelines for dictionaries. If we do not have a dictionary in your language and you do not have one of your own, you may share a dictionary with another student with the same mother tongue.
